The Working Conference on Reverse Engineering (WCRE) is the premier research conference on the theory and practice of recovering information from existing software and systems. WCRE explores innovative methods of extracting the many kinds of information that can be recovered from software, software engineering documents, and systems artifacts. Despite their potential applications in software comprehension, it appears that dynamic visualisation tools are seldom used outside the research laboratory. This paper presents an empirical evaluation of five dynamic visualisation tools - AVID, Jinsight, jRMTool, Together ControlCenter diagrams and Together ControlCenter debugger. The tools were evaluated on a number of general software.
In the reverse engineering of large software systems, erated. The combination of several views to create new views [24], the lifting and lowering of relations between program entities to create views on higher or lower abstraction levels, and the hiding of parts of a view [16, 14] can be formalized as operationson rela-tions. One way to achieve reuse is through software reengineering. This papers presents Orion-RE, a Component-Based Software.
